Just a thought for a future version of Squid. On the log rotation front, how about a facility to time/date stamp and compress the log file?

Refresh patterns tied to ACL's, so, for example, I could set refresh patterns based on specific sites. A good use for this is to be able to set tighter refresh patterns for sites which need to be refreshed more often, for example online newspapers and content which changes regularly (but the web server doesn't give out proper cache expiry information). Other sites could then have a default refresh pattern. The idea of also being able to override expiry information for specific sites would also be useful. The current options seem to be to either have all sites and objects using one set of refresh patterns, or not cache them at all.

Some sort of notification system to notify when squid restarts or has a parent cache fail. This sort of notification would perhaps be handy also mentioned in the cachemgr. I'm thinking more specifically of an email notification though. Having squid notify when it restarts by itself (not manually restarted) multiple times would be very useful for monitoring too.

New option "reply_body_max_size" is a very useful for me, but I would use it as a type of ACL's, to strict only some users and combine it with other accesss lists. Now I may only specify the maximum size of a reply body for all users. Will it be implemented as a "acltype" in another releses of Squid?

Configure reply_body_max_size based on access controls. I basically want to restrict certain subnets from downloading files over 1 meg but allow other subnets to download any size file they wish.

Are you planing in newer versions of Squid to develop capability of limiting maximum number of TCP-connections per parent ? It is very interesting for us - please, reply me.

Is there any way to patch Squid or use some external utility along with Squid to recognize TOS/IP precedence fields and make delay pool decisions on it? If this is possible then our transparent proxy will then be implemented

Hi, If I can ask something, at least for me could be useful to have the second user logging on with the same username and password BLOCKED instead to have the authentication resetted and asked again to who use to share passwords/login infos with colleagues.
