Core files / debugging squid?

Hi all,

One of my squid caches is dumping core every now and again, it appears
to be related to my patches allowing > 1024 fds on Linux when using
polled I/O. Can anyone tell me how to get a core file out of squid?

I have this in the config:
coredump_dir /usr/local/squid

Unfortunately no core is appearing... is this broken at the moment or am
I doing something wrong? :)

It's squid-2.4.STABLE6 + patches. None of the patches are substantial
though.
