Cache revalidation of cookied objects

Hi All-

I was wondering if anyone had the details of how Squid deals with requests
with cookies and responses with set-cookie. It seems that at some point in
the past, Squid revalidated requests with a cookie attached
(http://www.cs.wpi.edu/~cew/papers/wcw99.pdf, pg. 8), but now it appears
not to revalidate these objects. Does anyone know the how or why of this?
