Low portability of logfile-daemon support

Hi Adrian,

I'm doing my usual build test on 2.6 and I have found a portability problem:

asprintf(), used in logfile.c, is not available on Irix, Solaris and
Windows, and may be other platforms.

It's possible to use something else instead of asprintf() ?
Or alternatively, do you can provide an own asprintf() like strsep() ?
