Ok, here's the updated patch which I -think- DTRT. I'd appreciate some checking
though!

FTP auth failure still works fine (Spits back an error.)
FTP non-found still works fine (spits back an error; doesn't crash.)
FTP non-found w/ HEAD still works fine - but for the moment returns 200 OK.
FTP auth'ed request with a valid file there also works fine.
