Good question. Currently there is no sponsor for the task of getting
HTTP/1.1 support in Squid, so it's moving quite slowly.

I have an experimental Squid-2 branch adding some HTTP/1.1 support to
Squid-2, but it's stuck on how to add support for 100 Continue. Also
it's based on Squid-2 and needs to be redone quite a bit for Squid-3.

There is no timeline for HTTP/1.1 support at the moment. It could be
months or years depending on what happens.
