And the results are in:

#1
RSS: 123064
#2
RSS: 199044

Although I'm not too sure of these since I ran the ps+grep before test1
#2 had finished allocating and it came up with an RSS of 204372. Three
ps+grep in a row following the #2 run completion showed a 5k
almost-linear reduction in RSS each check.
