I would never SOCK'ify a Web server. SOCKS is really designed for
long-term connections like telnet/ftp. Apps like WWW which involve
massive amounts of connections (simultaneous too) are just not what a
SOCKS daemon wants to see. I've used a SOCKS server for WWW just to see
if it worked - it did, but the fact that it was always forking off a
separate process for each connection meant you lost all of the advantages
that single-forked squid/harvest give you (i.e. it was a bit slower).
