Authorised user access

Does the Squid server support authorised user access?
For example the Cern server prompts the web user to enter a usercode and p/w on a computer that is denied access by ipaddress. The authorised usercodes and
passwords are specified in a separate pwd file which the Cern server
checks that the input is correct and then allows the user access to the server.
