DNS lookup timeout problem

We are running Squid 1.0.5 under Solaris 2.5. Sometimes Squid is
unable to resolve a hostname. Using the CERN proxy running in parallel
on our machine, we are able to resolve the same hostname. I think it is
a DNS timeout problem. Is the timeout for the DNS server configurable ?
