Sun OS & File Descriptors

I have a large squid cache running on a SunOS 4.1.4 machine. Since SunOS
will handle only 256 file descriptors per process, I got into trouble
quickly. To make a long story short: I patched the kernel to handle 2048
descriptors per process.

Is there any interest out there for these patches ? If I get enough
requests, I'll find out what I can publish without violation of any
copyright.
