The 1.1.x series includes a script which can convert a 1.0 cache into
a 1.1 cache. If you have a very large cache, it will take a long time
(meanwhile your cache is down).

I'd recommend:
        1) deleting it (doesn't take long to fill - 1.1.x fills the disk
        pretty quick, or:
        2) running 1.0 as a sibling (you can probably extract about 20%
        of your old cache) to your new 1.1 Squid.
