Problems linking Squid 1.1.5

Hi,

I'm running Linux 1.2.1 on a 486 box.

While trying to "make squid" in /usr/src/squid-1.1.5/src I get:

ld: Output file requires shared library `libc.so.4'
gcc: Internal compiler error: program ld got fatal signal 6
make: *** [squid] Error 1

I've checked that libc.so.4 exists in /lib.

Everything else builds fine.

Has anyone got any ideas of what's wrong.
