Try setting cache_mem to 8 rather than 16 and it will probably
settle down around 27Mb like mine has. Bit of a pig, isn't
it? I suspect inefficient malloc use. Could probably use
a custom allocator. (I say this with entirely no knowlege
of the inside of the program at all, so I could be talking out
my arse...)
