draconian caching

Hi,
        I'd like to increase the hit rate on my cache and was wondering
what parameters would be the best to change? My current config is a PPro
200 w/ 256Megs of ram and 8 Gigs of disk running BSDi 2.1 and squid-1.1.11
I currently have cache_swap set to 8000 and I am running at just over 50%
full on each disk in the cache. The cache_swap_high is at 94 with swap_low
at 92, maximum_object_size is 25100 and refresh_pattern is:
refresh_pattern . 720 30% 43200

Are there other settings that could increase the cache hit rate?
