squid.pid and icpDetectClientClose

Hi! I wish to know what are the possible causes for squid.pid file to be deleted
within the /logs subdirectory of squid? I know this is important as the
squidstats.sh uses it (PIDFILE) when generating squid log statistics to SIGHUP
the squid process.

Also, when checking our syslog, I often see File Descriptor related logs like
"icpDetectClientClose: FD 75, 198 unexpected bytes". What does this mean? Is it
normal or is there a way to eliminate this?

Thanks and More Power to all of you!
