You should find that getting gcc running on your computer should be
pretty easy. Download gcc 2.7.2 from ftp://prep.ai.mit.edu/ or one of
its mirrors. If your cc fails with squid, then its probably because
it doesn't work quite right (the free compiler that comes with
commercial OS's is often a noddy one to encourage you to pay lots of
money for the working one!).

This of course, assumes squid has been checked with Digital Unix, but
it has been checked on OSF/1, so I think that should be enough.
