accelerator problem when redirecting directory to file

Hi,

I am using squid (v1.1.15) in accelerator mode on linux. It is being
used to redirect requests to a website server that does not have a
default page. If the directory name only is specified then the
redirector script adds the default page. The problem is that when the
directory name is entered without a slash, the browser does not
correctly create relative links, it completely misses the directory
name. If the directory name is entered with the final slash then all
links work as normal.
Is there anyway to get around this problem?

Thanks
   Sue
