Multiple cache_dirs

I know how to spread the cache around using multiple cache_dir
directives. I've done that before. Tomorrow, however, I'm taking a
system that's been running on _one_ and adding three more. Is there any
simple way to retain the contents of the cache, or do I just squid -z
the whole thing, and lose it all?
