Upgrade the RPM package first to rpm-2.4.9-1.i386.rpm or the latest.
The FTP site is:
ftp://ftp.rpm.org/pub/rpm/dist/rpm-2.4.x
"/bin/sh needed by ..." message should be dissapear.
