It helps us many times more if you send a debug trace, and not a syscall
trace. To turn on debug tracing on a running Squid you run "squid -k
debug", or send it a SIGUSR2 signal. The debug trace appears in
cache.log. Then send the relevant lines from cache.log to
squid-bugs@nlanr.net.
