HELP: re: purge a portion of SQUID cache version1 1.1.20

Hello I am trying to purge one virtual domain from my SQUID cache.
I looked up in the FAQ at

this command

/usr/local/sbin/client -m PURGE http://www.DOMAINNAME.com/

I get this error...

client: ERROR: Cannot connect to localhost:3128: Connection refused

Does this command not work in 1.1.20?
