RE: Squid 2 - so what? ;-)

For me, the key points are:

* HTTP 1.1 compliance (aware of Cache-Control: headers)
* more efficient
* cache digests (neighbor caches can predict what their peers will have)
* cache directories are configured on a per-disk basis; much more robust
