memory problem under FreeBSD

I recently increased the RAM of a FreeBSD (2.2.5) platform running squid
(2.0PATCH2) from 128 MB to 224 MB.
So in the kernel config file I increased the MAXMEM paramater, made and
installed a new kernel.

In squid.conf, I allocated 100 MB to squid.

So now in cache.log I receive the following message :

FATAL: xcalloc: Unable to allocate 2 blocks of 4 bytes!

And then :

Squid Cache (Version 2.0.PATCH2): Terminated abnormally.

and a restart and a new crash...

So I think my kernel is badly configured. Which parameter do I have to modify,
besides MAXMEM ?

Thanks for any help.
