2.1PATCH2 bug? dns_nameservers

I've just upgraded a few servers to 2.1PATCH2, and I'm seeing odd
behavior; they're internal Squids, and use dns_nameservers to query an
internal ns. They will randomly fail to look up an internal host on
those servers, giving

While trying to retrieve the URL:
http://hr.worldnet.ml.com/payroll/timesheets.htm

The following error was encountered:
Unable to determine IP address from host name for
hr.worldnet.ml.com

The dnsserver returned:
DNS Domain 'hr.worldnet.ml.com' is invalid: Valid name, no data
record of requested type.

even though the record is valid, and in fact was just used to get to the
referring page.
Any ideas? It shows up in the logs as a 503... I see that some of the
dns routines in 2.1 were reorganised, perhaps that did it?
Thanks,
