        That happened to me too, maybe not exactly the same but with similar
        results (link was eaten by squid for few hours or more). When I checked
        fd-list with cachemgr.cgi I saw squid downloading same url multiple
        times (5-15). Of course restarting squid helped. That was with
        squid 2.0 release i think, now I'm using squid 2.1p2 without any
        problems (except for few refresh problems but thats another story).
