Hello !

What is meaning of storeLateRelease?

My squid (2.1.PATCH2 for i386-unknown-freebsd3.0) server had crash today
and it had to rebuild cache content from directory. However during
rebuilding process it just allocated more and more memory until resource
limits where reached (256 MB of memory). And crached again...

When i finally got it to rebuild cache contents, only suspicious
message in logfile was:

1998/12/28 21:05:34| storeLateRelease: released 39297 objects

and lot of TCP_SWAPFAIL_MISS messages during rebuilding.

We have quite busy cache (43 000 TCP and ~ 60 000 ICP request/hour)
and there are approximately 1 Million objects in cache. With
reasonable resource limits, it is just not able to rebuild storage.

Is it possible to ignore any disk storage until it is cleanly rebuilt?

best regards,
taavi
