You are best to check the Redhat FAQ but you need to edit /etc/lilo.conf and
add the line append="mem=256M" then run lilo and re-boot. Once you have made
the changes and rebooted use top or free to check that linux knows about
all of
your memory. (I would make sure that your memory is detected when the system
does a memory check before booting prior to making any of these changes to
avoid creating any problems for yourself.)

Your lilo.conf should look a bit like ..

boot=/dev/hda
map=/boot/map
install=/boot/boot.b
prompt
timeout=30
append="mem=256M"
image=/boot/vmlinuz
        label=linux
        root=/dev/hda2
        read-only
image=/boot/vmlinuz.old
        label=old
        root=/dev/hda2
        read-only

You may want to change the memory limits in your squid,conf file but do not
need to. It depends if you want squid or linux to manage the memory and how
much free memory you have.
