2.1-PATCH2: strange swap directories usage

        Hello,

I upgraded from 1.1 to 2.1-PATCH2 and was surprised by the was
this new version stores the caches documents in a swap directory.

As usual I configured Squid to have a store directories to 16
at first level and 256 at the second:

cache_dir /var/spool/www-cache 720 16 256

I then preloaded some documents (wget is great:-) and let users
fill-in the rest. I found that 2.1 stored all to cached documents in
the 00 folder (it actualy holds 242 megs out of 720 max). At the
second level (that is in the 00 directory), squid fills in the
directories in numerical order, from 00.

This behavior is sgnificantly different than of the previous
versions I used to operate where the files were nearly evenly spread
across the spool hierarchy. Is this considered as normal?

If it's considered as normal then I consider it as abnormal as
the used directories had to be expanded to hold the file entries (the
directory size range from 4608 to 5632 bytes).

        Any opinions on this?
