fdesc. problem on FreeBSD!

hello,
I have set the file descriptor size with the
sysctl utility as shown in the squid FAQ
http://squid.nlanr.net/Squid/FAQ/FAQ-11.html
but when squid starts it says that it has 1064
free file descriptors but the
sysctl -a and pstat -T commands say that there are
32768 max file descriptors...

also cachemgr still says;

File descriptor usage for squid:
        Maximum number of file descriptors: 1064
        Largest file desc currently in use: 51
        Number of file desc currently in use: 51
        Available number of file descriptors: 1013
        Reserved number of file descriptors: 100
        Disk files open: 3

what is wrong??? is there something that I am missing???
