Dear Everyone,

Regarding the sacrificial squid box. If there is an administrative process
that kills runaway processes, is there anything to stop you from running the
sacrificial squid on the same server. Have it listen for requests on a port
different to the main one, and the main one feed its requests for US sites
onto that port. If the US squid runs away, it will be killed by the server.
Then the child cache will negatively cache the parent proxy, and so no
further requests will be processed (or only every so often when the ttl for
negative caching expires).

This is an idea, and I am not experienced in these things - but it might
save a bit of money by not having to buy a new box! Please email me if you
think this won't work.

Cheers,

Tim
