not really:

Thats the named process from our primary nameserver, which does about 500+
domains, and close to 10,000 users.

root 273 0.0 1.1 6796 6036 ? S Jun 25 0:49 named

above is the named process running caching only on our squid box. I would
hope most people could spare the <10MB for the benefit of not having to
have udp packets sent cross network to do lookups.
