Hi

I'm trying to increase the number of FD for squid, I'm running
2.2.10-ac10 on an Alpha and after some work I could compile the
kernel, now ulimit -a shows:

core file size (blocks) 1000000
data seg size (kbytes) unlimited
file size (blocks) unlimited
max memory size (kbytes) unlimited
stack size (kbytes) 8192
cpu time (seconds) unlimited
max user processes 256
pipe size (512 bytes) 8
open files 4096
virtual memory (kbytes) 9007199254749183

Then I run squid configure
...
checking Default FD_SETSIZE value... 1024
checking Maximum number of filedescriptors we can open... 4096
....

compiled squid, but when I check with cachemgr under General Runtime
Information..

File descriptor usage for squid:
Maximum number of file descriptors: 1024
Largest file desc currently in use: 46
Number of file desc currently in use: 29
        Files queued for open: 0
Available number of file descriptors: 995
Reserved number of file descriptors: 100
        Store Disk files open: 0

Is it something I'm missing?

Can someone help me?

Thanks

Flavio
