Squid 2.2 on HPUX 11.0

Hello!

We're using squid in our corporate network for a very long time and had
no great problems so far.
Recently we upgraded our 10 main proxyservers which are HP 9000/800
machines from OS rel. 10.01 to 11.0 and installed the (those days) latest
squid release 2.2 STABLE4 from source, compiled with egcs-2.91.57.
Now we are getting errors in cache.log and syslog saying:

  1999/09/02 07:40:10| comm_accept: FD 7: (233) No buffer space available
1999/09/02 07:40:10| httpAccept: FD 7: accept failure: (233) No buffer
        space available

These messages are coming very frequently during the day. It seems squid
cannot accept any new incoming requests, since FD 7 is the listening
socket.

We've contaced HP for this problem and after installing thousands of
patches, the problem hasn't gone away. The latest email we got from HP
says something like: The problem is the application, it should have a
check for this return code (233) included and simply try it again.
Sounds very helpful ...
So, my question is, if there are any other people out there using HPUX
11.0 and squid and having problems. Or if there are any switches in the
config file regarding this point.

Other details are: 512 MB memory, 1 CPU, 500 MB cache, approx. 10 req/sec
in peak time.

Any help would be much appreciated.

Greetings from Austria!
