httpd_accelerator mode and virtual hosts

Dear Folks,

Today I've set up our Squid machine in httpd_accelerator mode, but I
would like to do two things:

  1. combine two servers (serving different material) and have them
     appear as one machine
  2. One of the web servers has a number of virtual hosts. The Squid
docs are very sketchy on the use of httpd_accel_host virtual.
Since the Squid machine will be in the firewall DMZ, it will see
both name spaces. I don't understand how Squid would map names to
virtual hosts, since the names (for the Squid machine and the name
for each web server virtual host) must be different, since the web
servers are inside the firewall, and requests are coming from
outside as well as from inside.

Sorry to be so thick, but I've read the docs, grepped through them, and
have looked for threads on virtual hosting in the archives, but the two
I found didn't help me understand what I need to do here. I will be
grateful for suggestions from those who know.
