Solaris 2.6 problem

I'm trying to install squid on my Solaris 2.6 sparc box and I'm getting
the following error message when I type squid -z

FATAL: Unknown cache_dir type '/var/squid/cache'

Squid Cache (Version 2.3.DEVEL2): Terminated abnormally.
CPU Usage: 0.020 seconds = 0.010 user + 0.010 sys
Maximum Resident Size: 0 KB
Page faults with physical i/o: 0

The cache_dir line in the config file looks like this
cache_dir /var/squid/cache 500 16 256
The /var/squid/cache directory exists and is writable by the user squid.

I'm running squid on many linux boxes but I've never seen this error
before.

Thanks,

Marian Dobre
