Give Squid more memory, how?

This looks like I hit some kind of system limit on allocating more
than 256M RAM to Squid.

I have 1G RAM. I set the memory to 256M in squid.conf, I read that it
can take 3 times that.

How do I increase this limit. Its running on FreeBSD3.3 BTW.
