Re: Process size..

Hi,

I just wanted to say, regarding this process size, that the process size has
*always* been 500MB... it is still running fine from where I can see, it's
just that the TCP HIT has dropped from 7k/s average to about 0.2k/s average.

Either there is high congestion on the network getting out somehow (i can't
remember making any changes to the network that would do this), or the squid
box isn't processing the requests fast enough.

ie.

Proxy-Report (03.Nov 99 00:00:07 - 04.Nov 99 00:00:00)

lines parsed: 325385
unique hosts/users: 214
parse time (sec): 414

# Incoming TCP-requests by status
status request % kByte % sec
kB/sec
--------------------------------- -------- ------ --------- ------ ---- ----

---
HIT 132046 40.68 432241 21.06 0
7.68
and then a couple of days ago
Proxy-Report (08.Nov 99 00:00:21 - 09.Nov 99 00:00:00)
# Summary
lines parsed: 345568
unique hosts/users: 229
parse time (sec): 247
# Incoming TCP-requests by status
status request % kByte % sec
kB/sec
--------------------------------- -------- ------ --------- ------ ---- ----
---
HIT 153209 44.64 567938 26.99 30
0.12
See the difference? I'm guessing the incoming TCP-requests by status stats
depend a lot on the network load. If the proxy can't get the information
fast enough then i'll have a low HIT rate, and have to assume that the
network is overloaded perhaps?
