Cache log error "assertion failed: "

Can anyone shed any light on the following error:

        1999/11/17 09:31:05| assertion failed: comm.c:422:
"ntohs(address->sin_port) != 0"

This appears regularly in my cache log and the squid process restarts each
time the error occurs.

I'm running Squid 2.2 STABLE 2 on SCO Open Server 5.4
