set timezone

Hello.
I have following problem.
On Dig. Unix on alpha server when i type:
>date
Wed Dec 1 14:35:36 MET 1999

byt squid says: 13:35:36

hmm...what's wrong ?

>date -u
Wed Dec 1 13:36:34 UTC 1999

that is !

Can someone tell me, where can i set timezone ?
