Intuit claims bugs in Squid 2.2!

Intuit has been telling our users that Squid has bugs and that if they
want their "Quicken Quotes" feature to work, then they need to find
another ISP, one that doesn't use Squid. We complained to Intuit, and
received the following message. Is this true? Is their a fix?

Scarlett,

Our program, Quicken Quotes Live, downloads a configuration file from our
webserver. An HTTP/1.0, or an HTTP/1.1 request is generated from our
software using the GET method.

As such, the request will travel through the user's ISP's proxy server if
one exists. This works with all known proxy servers, as it should, with the
exception of the Squid proxy server.

Under certain conditions with Squid, it seems that a request (fully to
specifications) as follows:

GET /path/to/file/filename.conf HTTP/1.0
Content-Length: 0

Will cause an error return from the Squid proxy server:

HTTP/1.0 411 Length Required

This is, as far as we can tell, a bug in the Squid proxy server as the
request is made to spec, and an HTTP/1.0 400 OK response is what we expect.
We do believe that your organization is using this proxy server, hence the
response from our customer support people to our customer.

We have only seen this behavior with the Squid proxy server, and are
attempting to understand exactly why it's generating this error (we even
have the source to it and are banging away at the problem as we speak).

When we can provide a workaround, this will assist our common customer, and
will be of use to you as well.

We stand by our analysis of the problem, though we are still working on a
solution. Our comments to our user, relates strictly to this software, and
not to your abilities as an ISP in any way.

We suggest that we work together in order to help resolve this user's
issues.
Again, it will benefit both of our companies, and our common users.

Thanks,
Quicken Quotes Live Technical Support
Rhonda
