symbol referencing errors?

hi all,
has anyone seen an error compiling squid "symbol
referencing error, fatal error 1". I get past the
./configure --prefix=/usr/local/squid but when i run
the make all command and get to the .o files, this
error appears and terminates squid prematurely. does
this have to do with the gcc im using? 2_8_1-sol7 for
solaris 2.7 on a sparcclassic? does anyone know what
compiler specifics need to be used on solaris to
successfully compile squid-2.2.stable5? Thanks!
