One last thing: It is known that a *soft* limit above 256 on Solaris 2.6
and below may break certain things, like the RPC calls needed to
communicate with your license manager, if you are using the Solaris
compiler. This is true for any application using the stdio FILE structure
with many open files. You might want to adjust your *soft* limit to 256 or
below.
Of couse, this does not bother Squid. Squid only cares about the hard
limit, and will adjust its own soft limit automagically during startup.
