squid should wait a little bit longer

Hello !

Is it possible to configure squid to wait a little bit longer before
generating an error message. My dial-on-demand takes 2-3sec. to connect
to my provider and disconnects after 180sec idle-time. In case of
reconnecting to my isp squid generates a error-message (cannot connect).
Anny Ideas?
