See not overwhelming problems, other than the a memory issue with
unlimited buffering of text contents and the CPU time issue of costly
word searches..

Scanning fits quite nicely in the current Squid design. There is a
already a functionality which can defer delivery to the client and
content are already buffered in memory. Only things you need to beware
of is that Squid also has functionality to defer reading from the server
if the queue to the client is too large (by default more than 16 KB)

Can you please describe more about the toolset you have made?
