I'm using 2.3S2 on a RH v6.0 system with no problems at all. Get:

ftp.redhat.com/pub/contrib/libc6/SRPMS/squid-2.3.STABLE2-1.src.rpm

BTW, RH v6.x already has Squid included, so you'll have to do an
upgrade rather than an install:

    rpm -U squid-2.3.STABLE2-1.i386.rpm
