empty access log

I've set up squid (squid-2.3.STABLE2) on a Solaris x86 machine, and
all appears to fine, except for one thing: the access log is
empty. The cache log records a great deal of activity, however. I've
checked and double-checked the cache_access_log entry in my config
file, and the permissions on the log directory, and can't find
anything wrong.

bash-2.03# ls -l /var/squid/logs/
total 2446
-rw-r--r-- 1 www www 0 May 12 12:11 access.log
-rw-r--r-- 1 www www 5748 May 24 12:19 cache.log
-rw-r--r-- 1 www www 1232432 May 24 11:57 cache.log.0
-rw-r--r-- 1 root www 6 May 24 12:17 squid.pid

cache_effective_user www
cache_effective_group www
cache_access_log /var/squid/logs/access.log

Is there something else I should be checking?

Thanks.
