Problem with squid and incomplete EXE files

Hi all.

I've just encountered a unique situation with squid that I can't replicate
anywhere else accept from a clients server.

They're now using the latest stable squid (2.3s3) and using our proxy
(2.2s4) as a parent and when they download .exe files they get corrupted
(yet, zips are ok) and finish the download

The client squid:

Now, BOTH squid's are quick_abort 1KB - so both servers SHOULD fetch the
.exe fully, but they don't. Now, however when *I* get requrest the file:

it downloads perfectly.

Any clues as to what's going on? The problem has only "just started
happening" in the past two weeks, and in that time there's been no changes
to either proxy.

Anyone have any ideas?
