Pam auth

hello i have problemes with the pam module.
i have downloaded the squid-2.3.STABLE4 from the squid site!

and im trying to compile PAM

and get this message !

cc -g pam_auth.o -o pam_auth -lpam -ldl
/usr/bin/ld: cannot find -lpam
collect2: ld returned 1 exit status
make: *** [pam_auth] Error 1

what means it? "-lpam "
