I tried it out. You can get a 30 day demo version vom smartfilter.de.
Smartfilter integrates fine with Squid (Squid must be compiled with
smartfilter). Even cachemgr has a new entry for smartfilter.
Smartfilter adds a new acl type and you can use it with http_access lines.

The error page for forbidden URLs is customizable and you can show up the
forbidden categories.

The update of the smartfilter DB is possible via small script with wget ;-)

Smartfilter for Squid does not have a nice point an click interface but if you
are using Squid you should be able to use smartfilter.
